ALKALINE POWER GREEN SOUP

FullSizeRender.jpg

One of the fastest to alkalize your body is by loading up on greens. An alkaline body is resistant to all kinds of illness from common colds to cancer. The big C can only thrive and grow and in an acidic body which is created by over consumption of meats, toxic and processed foods.  While the amount of greens required to bring a body back to alkaline state may be hard to consume in plain form, soups and juices allow for more intake and digestion when blended. I love soups and can have them everyday even in the heat of summer. Soups are one of the best ways to enrich your diet and bring your body to an alkaline healthy state. This particular soup is not only highly alkaline but also rich in protein, calcium and antioxidants.

Enjoy 🌱🍃

TRIPLE PUNCH TONIC

image.jpg

In Ayurvedic medicine, it is recommended to have to 2 - 3 herbal tonics a day for optimal health. My nightly ritual is this delicious tonic infused with three powerful herbs; Turmeric, Cinnamon and Cardamon. These herbs each have significant proven effects on overall wellbeing. This is my bulletproof insurance to ward off ageing, chronic inflammation, assist in digestive health and weight maintenance.

The incredible health benefits of Turmeric are undeniable in battling chronic inflammation that can lead to practically all major diseases such as cancer, metabolic syndrome, heart disease and even Alzheimers. This powerful herb alone, taken daily in proper dosing, can be your health insurance for years to come.

Along with its many other benefits, Cinnamon has also been shown to significantly increase the sensitivity to the hormone insulin and thus reducing insulin resistance which is the main culprit of weight gain and leading cause of diabetes.

Cardamon’s health benefits include gastrointestinal protection by fueling the intestinal fires for optimal digestion, which is the key to a healthy gut and immune system. It also controls cholesterol, provides additional anti-inflammatory protection thus warding off cancer cells, improves blood circulation, provides anti-ageing benefits and oh (blush) it is also an aphrodisiac. 😊

It is important to get the adequate dosing of each herb for therapeutic benefits. It is a misconception that a dash or two in your food is enough. Herbs are slow acting and need larger amounts for therapeutic benefits. While adding spices to your food is good practice and has some benefits no doubt, for the full benefits, larger dosing in tonics are required. An Ayurvedic practionaire can give you proper dosing for major illness or chronic conditions.

This is my health maintenance blend that I found to be delicious but feel free to play with the measurements and adjust levels to your taste buds.

Recipe:

1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk or almond milk

1 tsp Ghee  (activates ingredients)

1 tbs Turmeric

1 tsp Cinnamon

½ tsp Cardamon

Dash of black pepper (to activate ingredients further)

Stevia (adjust to your sweetness desired level)

Mix all ingredients in saucepan, stirring continuously to blend the herbs. Bring to slight boil. Let simmer for another few minutes for the herbs to fully steep. Pour in cup and enjoy as you would a tea or latte.
